Shut-off valves
Valves shut off the water and control its direction — you need them at the house inlet and around the pump, tank and filters.
- Ball valves — to isolate the inlet, a meter, a filter or a water heater. Choose a brass body and a full bore.
- Check valves — stop water flowing back: into the borehole or well, or from the water heater into the cold pipe.
Where a check valve is essential is covered in “Check valve: why you need one and where to fit it”, and this guide helps you replace a valve yourself.
