Filter housings
A housing is the body of an inline filter: a replaceable cartridge goes inside, and the housing is fitted into the pipe. Look at three things when choosing one:
- connection thread — to match the pipe: 1/2" for a flat, 3/4"–1" for a house, larger for high flow;
- cartridge size — Mignon and 5" for single appliances, 10" and 20" for flats and houses, BIG when you need a lot of water;
- design — a clear bowl shows when the cartridge is dirty; double and triple housings combine several treatment stages in one unit; hot water needs housings marked HOT.
A spanner and a wall bracket from filter accessories make installation easier, and cartridges are in filter cartridges. How to build a system in stages is explained in “How to choose a water filter”.
