Water filters
A filter is chosen from a water test, not by eye: iron, manganese, hardness and turbidity each need a different solution. A system is usually built in stages:
- sediment filtration — right after the pump, against sand and rust;
- iron removal — if the water contains iron and manganese;
- softening — if the water is hard and appliances scale up;
- drinking water polishing — carbon or reverse osmosis in the kitchen.
How to read a water test and in what order to fit filters is explained in “How to choose a water filter from a lab test”. Change cartridges on time — here is how to do it yourself.
